A classic example of the mid thirties “Brick Box” courthouse is the Clackamas County Courthouse in Oregon City Oregon. At the end of the Oregon Trail, it has been the site of many historic trials in Oregon’s history.
As a result, this was one of the earliest courthouses in the country to have security on entry even for the lawyers. Everyone had to enter through the basement down the street to the left. It wasn’t until 2007 that the front door was once again in use. (With new security machines!),
By the way, does anyone know what the significance of the guys above the door lentil’s are? If so, drop me an e-mail, I have seen them on a number of courthouse.
These are great Dad! I can’t wait to see the rest of them. What a blast for you and mom!
Just looking at your courthouse photos. I visited with you folks on Sept. 10 in Heber City, Uth, behind the county courthouse. I’m anxious to come back here nd look at more photos. What a fun, worthwhile project.
